O estudo da estrutura e dinâmica da regeneração natural em sub-bosque de plantios com espécies exóticas, como as do gênero Pinus, possibilita dar informações para manejo, conservação e reestabelecimento das espécies nativas de uma comunidade vegetal. O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar e quantificar a dinâmica da regeneração natural das espécies arbustivo-arbóreas ocorrentes no sub-bosque do povoamento de Pinus caribaea, na Rebio de Saltinho, em Pernambuco. Foram medidas as espécies regenerantes de 10 parcelas permanentes, de 1 x 50 m, e incluídos os indivíduos com circunferência na base a 30 cm do solo (CAB 0,30m) ≤ 15 cm e altura superior a um metro. A altura foi classificada em: Classe 1, indivíduos arbustivo-arbóreos, com altura 1 ≤ H ≤ 2; Classe 2 com altura 2 < H ≤ 3; e Classe 3, com altura > 3 m e CAP ≤ 15 cm. Calcularam-se os parâmetros fitossociológicos, a dinâmica da regeneração e os índices de Shannon (H') e a equabilidade (J') por Pielou. Protium heptaphyllum teve maior número de indivíduos e valor de importância (VI), e Miconia prasina a melhor frequência nos dois levantamentos. Quanto ao índice H' de 3,32 nats.ind-1 (2007) passou a 3,07 nats.ind-1 (2012), e a equabilidade de J' de 0,85 a 0,62, havendo decréscimo tanto para a diversidade, quanto para a distribuição. O levantamento de 2012 registrou aumento de 12,5% do número de indivíduos, e os regenerantes de 2007 tiveram 48,31% de mortalidade. Com relação ao número de indivíduos e área basal, os percentuais de ganhos foram superiores ao das perdas. Conclui-se que a sucessão ecológica da regeneração do sub-bosque do povoamento estudado, encontra-se em modificação positiva, e o povoamento de Pinus caribaea, não está impedindo o surgimento de novos indivíduos e espécies.

The study of the structure and dynamics of natural regeneration in the understory of plantations with exotic species, such as those of the genus Pinus, makes it possible to provide information to management, conservation and re-establishment of native species in a plant community. The aim of this study was to identify and quantify the dynamics of natural regeneration of woody tree species occurring in the understory of Pinus caribaea in Rebio of Saltinho, Pernambuco state, Brazil. Regenerating species were measured for 10 permanent plots, 1 x 50 m, and included individuals with circumference at the base to 30 cm from the ground (CAB 0, 30 m) ≤ 15 cm and height of more than one meter. The height was classified in: Class 1, shrubby tree, individuals with height 1 ≤ H ≤ 2; Class 2 with 2 height < H ≤ 3; and Class 3, with height > 3 m and ≤ 15 cm CAP. Phytosociological parameters were calculated, the dynamics of the regeneration and the Shannon index (H ') and evenness (J ') by Pielou. Protium heptaphyllum had as many individuals and value of importance (VI) and Miconia prasina the best frequency in the two surveys. How to index H ' of 3,32 nats. ind-1 (2007) went to 3,07 nats. ind-1 (2012), and the evenness of J ' of 0,85 to 0,62, and decrease for both the diversity and the distribution. The 2012 survey recorded 12,5% increase in the number of individuals, and the regenerating of 2007 had 48,31% mortality. With respect to the number of individuals and basal area, the percentage gains were greater than the losses. It is concluded that the ecological succession of understorey regeneration of the population studied, lies in positive modification, and the settlement of Pinus caribaea, is preventing the emergence of new individuals and species.

RESUMO A capacidade de regeneração natural de espécies nativas em situações de competição com árvores de plantios florestais pode ser considerado um fator de grande valor para a manutenção da diversidade. Diante disso, o presente estudo avaliou a regeneração natural de espécies nativas no sub-bosque de um povoamento de Eucalyptus saligna Smith., localizado na Reserva Biológica de Saltinho, PE. Para a análise da estimativa da regeneração natural das espécies arbóreas foram selecionados três talhões de Eucalyptus saligna Smith. Em cada um deles, foram implantadas parcelas de 1,0 x 50 m, sendo uma na extremidade do talhão e as outras distanciando 10 m de uma da outra, totalizando dez subunidades. As análises foram estabelecidas, com base no nível de inclusão das espécies arbóreas em regeneração natural com Circunferência do Caule a Altura de 30 cm do solo - (CAB) ≤ 15 cm, e as classes de alturas foram assim distribuídas: Classe 10,30m com indivíduos arbóreos com altura (H) 1,0 ≤ H ≤ 2,0, a Classe 2 com altura (H), 2 < H ≤ 3 e a Classe 3 com altura (H) >3,0 m. Para avaliar a diversidade florística a nível de espécie utilizou-se o índice de Shannon (H´). No total, foram amostrados 302 indivíduos vivos, pertencentes a 23 famílias botânicas, 31 gêneros e 39 espécies. Analisando-se os resultados obtidos pode-se concluir que o eucalipto possibilita a regeneração de espécies nativas no sub-bosque, contudo, a composição florística depende também de características edáficas e da proximidade de fontes de propágulos.

ABSTRACT The capacity of natural regeneration of native species in situations of competition with forest plantation trees can be considered an important factor in maintaining diversity. Therefore, the present study evaluated the natural regeneration of native species in the sub-forest of a settlement of Eucalyptus saligna Smith., located on the Biological Reservation of Saltinho - PE. To estimate the natural regeneration of the arboreal species, three stands of Eucalyptus saligna Smith were selected. In each one of them, 10 sub-units of 1.0 x 50 m were implanted, one being on the edge of the stand and the others with a distance of 10 m one from another. The analyses were established based on the level of inclusion of the arboreal species in natural regeneration with circumference from stem to height of 30 cm from the soil - (CAB) ≤ 15 cm, and the classes of heights were distributed as follows: Class 1- arboreal individuals with heights (H) 1.0 ≤ H ≤2.0; Class 2- with heights (H), 2 < H ≤ 3; and ; Class 3- with heights (H) >3.0 m. To evaluate the floristic diversity at the species level, the Shannon index was used (H´). In total, 302 live individuals were sampled, belonging to 23 botanical families, 31 genera and 39 species. Based upon the results, it is possible to conclude that the Eucalyptus saligna tree does not preclude the natural regeneration of native species in the stand understory, however the floristic structure of the community is also influenced by edaphic factors and vicinity of seed sources.
